“Television” triumphant in Australia
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's “Television” is continuing to make waves, this time taking the First Grand Jury award at the prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Awards. One of the leading characters of the film, Tisha, received the awards at Brisbane, alongside co-writer of the screenplay Anisul Hoque.
In a reaction posted on his Facebook account, Farooki thanked his colleagues, friends and the people of Bangladesh for their love. In her reaction, Tisha termed it a “major achievement” for Bangladesh.
The Asia Pacific Screen Awards have been honouring the best films in the region for the last seven years, with this year's festival featuring some of the most striking films of the year.
“Television” was also nominated at the festival's competition for best film and best screenplay. The Best Feature Film award went to Hany Abu Assad's “Omar”, while Ritesh Batra's “The Lunchbox” took the Best Screenplay and the second jury award. Anthony Chen won Achievement in Directing for his touching debut feature film “Ilo, Ilo”.
