Team Mohakash, winner of NASA Space Apps Challenge, receives recognition from SELISE

On 12 January, the multinational digital consultancy platform SELISE hosted a formal meet and greet event for Team Mohakash, winners of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2021. In the event, SELISE awarded the team from KUET (Khulna University of Engineering & Technology) and BAUET (Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology) with a token of appreciation.
Sumit Chanda, Alvi Rownok and Barnita Basak Trisha of Team Mohakash were present in the event, with the other three members attending via virtual conference. Julian Weber, CEO of SELISE, also joined virtually and congratulated the team, encouraging them to keep pursuing their dreams of making continuous impact in the field of aerospace engineering. During the event, Team Mohakash introduced their project with a presentation, detailing their journey and explaining the mechanism behind their project, ARSS.
In December last year, Team Mohakash received international recognition by winning Global Finalists in the category 'Best Mission Concept' of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2021. With the contest theme being 'Virtual Planetary Exploration V2.0', Team Mohakash designed a battery-powered motor tool named 'Advanced Regolith Sampler System (ARSS)' to help astronauts collect regoliths, radioactive fragments found on planetary surfaces.
According to Sumit Chanda, team leader of Mohakash, NASA has shown interest in their project. They have been invited to visit the NASA Space Centre later this year where they will formally receive their awards from NASA. Team Mohakash also expressed delight at being recognised by SELISE.
