Tarique, Salam sued for sedition
A sedition case has been filed against BNP leader Tarique Rahman and ETV Chairman Abdus Salam on charge of threating the country’s sovereignty by saying and broadcasting instigating words in the channel.
“They have threatened the sovereignty of the country by saying and broadcasting false, fabricated, baseless and instigating information on Ekushey Television,” Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station, told The Daily Star quoting for the case statement.
Sub-Inspector Barhan Uddin this afternoon filed the case with the police station, showing the BNP senior vice-chairman as prime accused.
Other details of the case were not available immediately.
