STRAIGHT LINE / The fuss about ISIS and what we need to do

The murders of bloggers, intellectuals, priests, academicians, rights activists, and also persons of ordinary vocations committed by allegedly extremist groups...

Who are killing freethinkers in Bangladesh? / Some unresolved issues

Philippines clash kills 18 soldiers

The Philippines military says 18 soldiers have been killed in fierce fighting with Islamist militants in the south of the country.

STRANGER THAN FICTION / Terror in the East and West: Beyond Ankara, Lahore, Paris, and Brussels

Although Islamist or separatist terror groups bomb and kill hundreds of people in Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Turkey, or Afghanistan on a regular basis...

19 dead in Somalia restaurant attack

Somalia's Islamist Shebab militants killed at least 19 people when five gunmen detonated a bomb before storming a popular seaside restaurant in the capital Mogadishu.

5 JMB men jailed for 2005 blasts

A court in Rangamati has convicted five members of the banned Islamist outfit JMB and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each for their involvement in a bomb attack in 2005.

The War on Abstract Notions

Wars on abstract concepts (e.g. terror, freethinking) are dangerous because they can be aimed at virtually anyone and can be invoked to launch every missile and curtail every freedom.
