Syhlet medical student killed by rivals

An activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was hacked to death allegedly by armed activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital campus this evening.

The deceased Touhidul Islam was a 4th year MBBS student of the college and resident of Abu Sina hall, reports our Sylhet correspondent quoting Tanmoy Bhhattacharya, deputy director of the hospital.

The victim was hailed from Shariatpur district.

Some armed activists of BCL, student wing of ruling Awami League, swooped on Touhid at the hostel around 7:00pm.

They chopped him severely before leaving him critically injured. Touhidul was rushed to the MAG Osmani hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 8:35pm.

On information, Dr Shahriar Hossain Chowdhury, former city BNP convener rushed to the hospital. Talking to the journalists he alleged that BCL activists killed Touhidul in a planned way.

Mohammad Rahamat Ullah, additional deputy commissioner of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police confirmed the killing.
