Suspected aide of Daud Ibrahim remanded
A Dhaka court today placed an Indian alleged criminal, also a suspected associate of underworld don Daud Ibrahim, on a three-day remand for staying in Bangladesh illegal.
Abdul Rauf Daud Merchant, also a convicted killer of music baron Gulshan Kumar, was arrested when he was roaming Khilgaon area suspiciously yesterday.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Nuru Mia passed the order after Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch of police Golam Rusul, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before it with a seven-day remand prayer.
Merchant was arrested two days after he was released from a Kashimpur jail in Gazipur.
On May 28, 2009, police arrested him in Brahmanbaria. He was later convicted for intruding and illegally staying in Bangladesh.
