Dare To Lead

What do you think of when you hear the word 'leadership'? Flip through the dictionary and you will find it says 'The state or position of being a leader'. But what does being a leader mean? Mahatma Gandhi once said, "I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people". Gandhi was right. Anyone coming from any social class or educational background can be a leader, by being able to work in a team, exercising some dynamic skills, and applying them for making a sustainable change in a specific context. In Bangladesh, where we have no formal education on leadership, Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) has been working on creating a platform for future leaders coming from different educational backgrounds. Since its inception in 2008, BYLC has been arranging different training programmes that are aimed at developing qualities of effective leadership in students–the Building Bridges through Leadership Training (BBLT) is one of them.
