I wish this feeling was eternal: Iniesta
Deportivo La Coruna fans at the Riazor gave a great display of love and respect to Barcelona’s departing midfielder Andres Iniesta when the veteran player came on in the 87th minute of a game where Barcelona clinched their 25th La Liga title and Iniesta suggested that it was an indescribable feeling to be so loved even by the Deportivo fans who were facing a difficult moment themselves as there team were relegated from the Spanish top flight.
"It's an indescribable feeling, on a personal level and as a sportsperson, there are no words when you receive so much love from people and even more so in difficult moments for them [as Deportivo were relegated]," he confessed after watching the whole stadium stand up to applaud him.
The Barcelona captain wished that his dream at Barcelona was eternal after taking his tally of major honours for Barca and Spain to 35. The 33-year old capped an emotional week by getting his hands on both major domestic titles – Copa Del Rey and La Liga.
Iniesta is awaiting another swansong at the World Cup in Russia before he leaves for China on a new adventure and the classy midfielder has shown that he can still leave defenders dazzled with his fantastic intuition and skill.
“To finish the season with these feelings before the World Cup and with another adventure ahead, I wish it were eternal. I would like this to never end, but everything has its beginning and its end.”
Commenting on the La Liga title, Iniesta addressed that each title had it’s own charm despite Barca failing to make it to the semifinal of the Champions League after falling to Roma.
“Every competition has its difficulties, it doesn't have anything to do with the format of the Champions League or the league, each one has its value. It's been a great season in the league and the cup, next year the team will try to improve on what it hasn't done well to take another step.”
Iniesta however remained discreet regarding his future, not confirming where he will move next season.
"I still don't know, nothing is done, when the season is done hopefully everything will be in order," he insisted.
