Liton sees consolation win as tonic for T20I series
Bangladesh stand-in skipper Liton Das said that the consolation victory in the third and final ODI against Afghanistan on Tuesday will give his side confidence in the upcoming three-match T20I series against the same opponents.
After a convincing seven-wicket today at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram after having conceded the series with two matches at the same venue, the Tigers will now shift their focus to the T20I series to be held in Sylhet International Stadium from July 14.
"Before the T20I series, this win helped the boys. Definitely confident going into the T20Is," said Liton during a post-match presentation ceremony today.
Liton gave full credit to his bowlers for the easy win to cap off what was otherwise a disappointing series for the home side.
"They did a good job. Shoriful [Islam] and Taskin [Ahmed] used the new ball well, the spinners bowled well in the middle overs as well. All credit to the bowlers."
Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, however, wished his side good luck for the T20I series.
"I won't be part of the T20 squads, my best wishes for the players going in," he said.
Shahidi expressed his satisfaction over the performance of his team in the series.
"I am very happy with the series performance. Tough for us today, we were not complacent and will learn from the loss. Bangladesh played well, putting us under pressure right from the beginning. Special thanks to the Afghanistan fans, they support us everywhere we go."
