Liton departs as Tigers lose two inside powerplay

Bangladesh opener Liton Das was dismissed for a 31-ball 26 in the last over of the powerplay as the Tigers managed 50 runs for the loss of two wickets after the first 10 overs in the ODI opener of the three-match series against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Liton, who hit two fours and a six, looked to punch a back-of-a-length delivery on the back foot off seamer Curtis Campher. But to his surprise, the ball held up a bit on the surface and the right-handed batter got his timing all wrong as he ended up skying it to cover.

His dismissal brought Shakib Al Hasan to the crease, while Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 13 off 19 balls.
