Aaqib glad to be in Bangladesh
Pacers from both the Bangladesh national cricket team and the High Performance squad attended their first session under former Pakistan national Aaqib Javed today. Javed is here for a week-long pace camp which will take place at the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s National Cricket Academy.
“I was here with the UAE four months ago in the Asia Cup. It is always great to be back in Bangladesh. People’s passion for cricket is amazing. Bangladesh is No 1. It has been 3-4 times that the BCB has invited me to come and work with them in different capacities. Now I was settling down a bit after quitting UAE. I joined as director cricket operations of Lahore Qalandar,” Aaqib told reporters after the training session at Mirpur.
“I told the BCB that I can come and help your bowlers. I can offer you 3-4 weeks in different times of the year. It is important to build a good relation between a coach and a board and it is not just about a piece of paper. I am passionate. I am a proper coach. The thing that drives you is passion. You can’t coach for 16 years if you don’t have the passion to work and improve others. When we used to play, we used to understand one body and mind. Now we are working with different bodies, different mentalities. This is a passion that keeps driving you forward,” he added.
