Toxic gas kills two workers

Two construction workers died from toxic gas inhalation in a septic tank at Dipchar village under Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased are Abdur Rashid, 40, of Rajapur village and Imran Hossain Zoardar, 44, of Arifpur village. Police and locals said the duo entered a septic tank of a house to renovate it and fell sick inhaling toxic gas around 5:00pm. They were rushed to Pabna General Hospital where they died around 6:00pm, said police.
OMS wheat seized

Police on Wednesday night seized 800 sacks of wheat meant for Open Market Sale (OMS) in Dakkhin Surma upazila of the district. The law enforcers also seized two trucks and the drivers of the vehicles from the spot. Md Mursalin, officer in-charge of Dakkhin Surma Police Station, said being tipped-off, a police team conducted a drive at Humayun Rashid Square and seized the goods worth around Tk 7.4 lakh. Police filed a case with the police station against four people.
Crude bombs, gunpowder seized

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members recovered nine handmade bombs and 1.4kg gunpowder from an abandoned room at a brick kiln in Ramchandrapurhat area in Sadar upazila early yesterday. Acting on a tip-off that a gang of criminals were making bombs, a team of Rab-5 raided a room at the brick kiln around 5:00am. But sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gang members fled the scene, keeping the bombs and bomb making materials on the spot, said Major Kamruzzaman Pavel, commanding office of Rab-5.
