RU scraps decision to hike fees

The Rajshahi University authorities yesterday declared to continue evening master's programmes as the academic council and syndicate “found through discussions” that these will not affect regular courses and students.
The decision to hike fees was scrapped, added Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin at a press conference in the senate bhaban.
He termed general students' protests against the authorities' initial decision to hike fees and continue evening master's programmes “irrational” and expressed sorrow over the February 2 incident.
That day police and Bangladesh Chhatra League men had fired on the protesters, leaving over 100 injured.
