'Robber' beaten to death

An alleged robber was killed in a mob beating in Subarnachar upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Jahid Hossain, 29, son of Khokon Mian of Char Majid village in the upazila.
Police and locals said, a gang of 6/7, riding three motorbikes, swooped on the shop of one Biplob in Beribadh area around 2:00am.
As the shopkeeper tried to resist them, the robbers started stabbing him, said police.
Hearing the hue and cry, villagers rushed in, chased the gang and caught Jahid along with two knives.
They gave Jahid a good beating, leaving him dead on the spot.
