Recognition for Young Achievers

The Daily Star 15th Award Presentation Ceremony for O and A Level students was held on April 5 at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka to recognise students who achieved at least 6 A's in O Level and 3 A's in A Level. Students from English medium schools were present along with 64 global toppers, seven with the highest A's in the country, and 98 National Toppers. The event is The Daily Star's initiative to honour students who excel in their examinations. During the event, certificates and medals were given to the outstanding students.
From Mastermind School, Anshah Anju Khan Chowdhury, who earned six A's with three A*'s in one session, said, “I am happy about my achievements and am very grateful to the Almighty for giving us this. I feel inspired because The Daily Star demonstrates its appreciation of us.” Monami Anika Fariha, an A Level World Topper in Accounting who recently got into The Institute of Business Administration, said, “[This was] an amazing experience for me since I worked really hard. Great initiative. It feels good when your hard work gets recognised.”
Anan Momin Khan, a private O-Level student said, “I'm completely overwhelmed by the fact that I'm going to receive a Daily Star Award. It's a staggering landmark in my life!”
The programme was inaugurated with speeches from the chief guest, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid. “We take great pride on the fact that you have achieved the best results among all the students of the world,” he said.
Robert Winnington Gibson, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, was the special guest at the programme. Mahfuz Anam, Publisher and Editor of The Daily Star, was present at the event. Aside from giving out awards, the event also consisted of song and dance performances that centred around the cultural heritage of our country. The award ceremony was jointly sponsored by BRAC Bank, Monash University, Malaysia and Edexcel.
