Prosecution happy with Mobarak verdict
The prosecution expressed satisfaction over the capital punishment awarded to Mobarak Hossain, an Awami League leader of Brahmanbaria, for his crimes against humanity committed during the country’s Liberation War.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 handed down death sentence to Mobarak for gunning down 33 people on the west bank of Ganga Sagar Dighi in Brahmanbaria on October 24, 1971.
The 64-year-old Mobarok has also been awarded him life term imprisonment for killing one Abdul Khaleque at Satian village on November 11 the same year.
The prosecution however failed to prove three out of five charges brought against him.
