Police on Monday arrested the prime accused from a hotel in the capital in a case filed for killing ward level Awami League leader Imran Hossain of Rangpur city last month.

Rejecting his bail prayer, a Rangpur court sent MA Majid, 41, labour affairs secretary of the city unit AL, was sent to jail yesterday.

On November 10, Imran, 35, joint secretary of ward no-30 unit, was stabbed to death at the city's Satmatha intersection.

The following day, a case was lodged accusing 11 named including Majid and his nephew Ashraful Alam, joint convener of the city unit of Jubo League, and some other unmanned persons.

Since the incident, 10 people were arrested.
