40 JCD activists injured as police charge baton on them at Press Club
At least 40 Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists were injured as police charged baton on them when they gathered in front of Jatiya Press Club to protest the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in jail custody.
Aman Ullah, member secretary of JCD DU committee, said police charged baton on them and also fired tear shells when they gathered in front of the Press Club for forming a human chain around 11:00am.
At least 40 activists were injured and they were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Islami Bank Hospital.
Condition of seven are said to be critical, the JCD leader claimed.
Sajjadur Rahman, deputy Commissioner (Ramna Zone), said they dispersed the JCD men as they tried to hold a programme without prior permission.
