Nasir gets elephant, Manjur orange
The polls-symbol allocation for forthcoming city corporation elections started off with candidates for Chittagong city getting theirs this morning.
Ruling Awami League sponsored AJM Nasir was given the elephant and BNP’s M Manzur Alam orange as respective polls-symbol for the port city elections.
Solaiman Alam Sheikh, Jatiya Party-tent mayor hopeful, was allocated dish antenna as his polls-symbol by the Election Commission office.
Abdul Baten, a returning officer concerned with the port city polls, confirmed the symbol allocation and urged all candidates to refrain from violating polls-code.
The city corporations elections for Chittagong and two halves of Dhaka city are expected to be held on April 28.
After getting his symbol, Sarwar Alam, son of Manjur, told reporters that he got orange as electoral symbol. “We are happy after getting orange as our electoral symbol.”
AJM Nasir said his mother chosen elephant. “And I got it fortunately.”
Chittagong has a total of 12 mayoral aspirants. Manjur was the latest mayor of the port city who resigned recently to vie for the post again in the polls of April 28.
The city corporation elections for Chittagong and two halves of Dhaka city are expected to be held simultaneously.
