Khaleda summoned in Barapukuria graft case Apr 13
A Dhaka court today asked BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 12 others to appear before it on April 13 in connection with Barapukuria coalmine corruption case.
Judge Hosne Ara Begum of Dhaka Special Judge's Court-2 passed the order after the counsels for Khaleda and some of the accused informed her that the High Court yesterday fixed April 5 for passing an order on a petition filed by the BNP chief for quashing the case proceedings.
Earlier, the court asked the accused to submit the HC order on the quashment petition today.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case, accusing Khaleda and 15 others of causing a loss of Tk 159 crore to the state exchequer by awarding a contract for the operation of Barapukuria coalmine to a Chinese company abusing power.
