JP sends delegate to AL council

Two presidium members of Jatiya Party have been attending the 20th National Council of Bangladesh Awami League at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan.

“On behalf of Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, two of its presidium members-- Anisul Islam Mahmud and Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu--have attended the national council of the ruling Awami League to convey the greeting of the opposition,” JP Secretary General Ruhul Amin Hawlader told The Daily Star.

JP leader Raushan Ershad, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, greeted AL leaders and activists and wished its success on the occasion of its 20th national council.

The opposition leader said this at Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka while leaving for Switzerland to attend 135th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union, according to a press release issued by opposition leader Raushan Ershad’s Information and Public Relations Officer Mamun Hasan.

Earlier in the morning, prime minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the national council of the country’s biggest political party which steered the 1971 Liberation War.

Foreign delegates, diplomats, and thousands of party leaders and activists have been participating the inaugural ceremony.
