Petrol bomb attack in Demra bus burns 28 passengers
At least 28 passengers including a woman sustained burn injuries as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus in Konapara of Demra, Dhaka this evening on the 17th day of BNP-led 20-party alliance’s countrywide blockade.
The injured, in total of 30 people, were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) after the attack which took place in Kashimpur area around 9:30pm, Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp, told The Daily Star.
The petrol bomb fell into the middle of the Glory Paribahan bus, started from Gulistan to Rupganj, carrying around 50 passengers, Salahuddin, 44, an injured passenger, told our correspondent at DMCH.
An employee of a plastic factory in Demra, he was going to his workplace for night duty, the victim added.
Immediately after the impact of the petrol bomb, the interior of the bus got dark as smoke from flames engulfed the atmosphere, Salahuddin said.
Many passengers made it out by breaking into the glass window of the vehicle, he said.
Unidentified miscreants threw the petrol bomb from our side, he added.
Identities of rest of victims were not known immediately.
