Peshawar massacre a wake-up call for Pakistan
This refers to the report, “Pakistan mourns massacre victims” (Dec.18). No words can describe this inhuman and barbaric massacre of innocent school children in a military school in Peshawar. The terrorist organisation responsible for this barbaric act needs to be condemned and there cannot be any justification. Are the terrorist organisations worried that if the children get educated, they will not join them? It is a wake-up call for Pakistan - both the government and the military that they should not use terror in any form as a tool of state policy. Pakistan is paying the price for supporting terror groups. These terrorists are giving a bad name to Islam. The Peshawar attack is a watershed moment in Pakistan's history; Pakistan in its own interest should stop supporting terror groups. Some Pakistani politicians have flirted with Taliban, for long. It is apt for Pakistan's prime minister Nawaz Sharif coming out with a statement that there is no 'good' and 'bad' Taliban and he has promised a national plan to fight terrorism. His efforts to negotiate peace with Taliban have failed. The Pakistani army should take action against all terror groups including terrorists' camps in various locations in that country and this is the need of the hour.
