Grand collection of ‘Toys-R-Yours 2017’ Season 3 held
Season three of Grand Collection Ceremony of Toys-R-Yours 2017 was held at Cadet College Club on November 10.
This year the campaign has been sponsored by Alpenliebe Bangladesh and IPDC Finance, according to a press release.
In the quest to reach a bigger target this year, Toys-R-Yours organised this Grand Collection Program to make people aware and collect more toys and books through a mini festival.
Like previous years, popular celebrities like singers Tahsan Khan, Shafin Ahmed, Balam, director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, actor Riaz, model and actresses Mehazabien Chowdhury, Nova Firoz, Jannatul Peya, singer and model Elita Karim, directors Ashfaque Nipun and Piklu Chowdhury, standup comedian and motivational speaker Solaiman Shukhon, popular blogger and social activist Arif R Hossain and star player of Bangladesh Cricket Team Shakib Al Hasan among other notable personalities were present in the collection ceremony throughout the day along with the members of Ex-cadets Forum.
Toys-R-Yours campaign has already created optimism, hope and encouragement among many people by their activities in 2015 and 2016.
This year Toys-R-Yours aims to reach out to 80 schools and spread a smile among 30,000 children. Alongside sharing toys, they will be setting up libraries in 20 schools all over the country, according to the press release.
Everyone’s favorite all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan says, “It’s a very wonderful initiative for the under privileged kids of Bangladesh. I feel lucky to be a part of this. I wish Toys-R-Yours to succeed further in future.”
“I have been with Toys-R-Yours from their inception. This is a very effective initiative to improve the intellectual advancements of the children. I will request all people of their country to support this noble initiative and to be a part of it,” says Tahsan.
Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, the director of Aynabaaji says, “I am astonished to see what Toys-R-Yours is doing. It surprises me more when I think about how happy the kids are going to be when they receive these colorful toys.”
Ex-Cadets Forum (ECF)-- a global platform of ex-cadets from all the cadet colleges initiated the campaign back in 2015 with a very simple strategy. Toys-R-Yours (in short TRY) project collects used toys and books through different channels – corporate campaigns, school campaigns and individual donations. The collected toys are then sorted out, cleaned and repaired and distributed to the underprivileged children who can’t afford to buy the toys-- a vital tool for mental growth and joy at this age, according to the press release.
Mustafa Jamal, the man behind this project says “It’s the shared responsibility of citizens at all levels to come up from their place to improve the lifestyle of these underprivileged children. We are just creating a platform which is easy and convenient to mass people. We have received huge appreciation and participation from people in all these years. We look forward to reaching more people in the coming days. Only the mass people of the country can make our dreams come true.”
Toys-R-Yours has a large volunteer base which has like-minded, enthusiastic, and energetic people of all ages working at different levels. The unimaginable response from different corners of the society creates bigger hope.
Interested persons can also be a part of this initiative by donating their used toys and old books to this project. Collection of toys and books is going on throughout the country at different drop-off points.
