Obituary
Mir Waliuzzaman, former captain of Bangladesh Army, a writer, a development activist and a journalist, died from kidney complications in his Dhanmondi residence in the capital yesterday, aged 67.
Waliuzzaman, who left behind his wife, and a daughter, was buried at Banani Military Graveyard following a namaz-e-janaza at CMH mosque.
A doa will be held at his residence tomorrow after Asr prayers.
During his career, Waliuzzaman worked for Mirzapur Cadet College and development organisations like Gonoshasthya Kendra, Care Bangladesh, Proshika and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
At the time of his death, he was employed at The Daily Star as an online copy editor.
Dole Lonthon is his autobiography work. He also translated Ernest Hemingway's Islands in the Stream, and André Gide's Strait Is the Gate into Bangla.
