Aid for 15 'fake' FFs stopped
Amtali upazila administration under Barguna district has stopped payment of allowance to 15 'fake' freedom fighters as the upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad recently brought certificate forgery charges against them.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Mizanur Rahman said the monthly honorarium of the freedom fighters has been stopped as per directive of the deputy commissioner.
“I have already asked the upazila social welfare officer to investigate the allegation brought by the upazila Muktijaddha Sangsad. If their certificates are proved to be false, these will be cancelled,” The UNO said.
The 'fake' freedom fighters are Shamsuddin Ahmed, former upazila Awami League general secretary, Md Sekander ALi, Ali Akbar, Nurul Haque, Kanchon ALi Khan, Abul Hossain Mridha, Abdul Malek, Abdul Mannan Mia, Nurul Islam, Md Shahjahan, ATM Rafiqul Islam, Momin Uddin, Habibur Rahman, Monsur Ahmed and Abul Hossain.
The upazila Muktijoddha Sansad recently brought allegation of forgery for obtaining fake freedom fighters' certificate against the 15 and urged the ministry concerned, the deputy commissioner and the upazila nirbahi officer to cancel the certificates.
Dewan Mujibur Rahman, deputy commander of Amtali Muktijoddha command, said they took the decision to lodge complaints against the 15 'fake' freedom fighters in a meeting held on July 7 with Upazila Commander GM Delwar Hossain in the chair.
"They neither fought nor received any training in freedom fighters' camps during the Liberation War. They didn't even help any freedom fighters. But they are enjoying all government facilities,” said Upazila Commander GM Delwar Hossain.
Raja Oliul Haque, a freedom fighter (Mukibarta no 0601020074), also submitted a written complaint to the ministry concerned, the deputy commissioner and the upazila nirbahi officer recently, demanding cancellation of certificates of 15 'fake' freedom fighter in the upazila.
He also demanded legal action against the 'fake' FFs.
