'I am doing fine': Babita

Rumours surrounding the health of legendary actress Babita circulating on social media on Monday, originating from a Facebook ID using her name. To verify the claim, The Daily Star reached out to the veteran actress last night.

"I am well, I am healthy. By the grace of Allah, I am doing fine," Babita assured during the conversation.

Expressing disappointment, she added, "I don't know who is spreading this news that I am unwell. It's not true. With everyone's prayers and love, I am doing just fine."

When informed that the post originated from a Facebook account named Babita, the actress clarified, "I don't use Facebook. That's a fake ID. I don't know who is behind it, but I don't have any Facebook account."

She further said, "Since the rumour started spreading, I've been getting constant phone calls. People shouldn't spread such news without confirming it."

Babita, a celebrated actress of Bangladeshi cinema's golden era, has starred in numerous films. She gained international acclaim for her role in Satyajit Ray's "Ashani Sanket". 

She is a recipient of the National Film Award and has also been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
