Operator of Bogura’s Jamuna gas cylinder plant dead in accident while on duty

An operator died during a "pneumatic test" at a cylinder manufacturing plant of Jamuna Gas in Bogura's Shajahanpur upazila this morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Abu Bakor (52) of Jamalpur villager in the upazila.
Contacted, Mohammed Jahangir Alam, assistant manager (AGM) of the plant, told The Daily Star that the factory had some new cylinders to supply.
Abu Bakor was trying to check whether there was any leakage on the cylinder but he pressed the wrong button, the AGM said.
He was injured when his head got stuck into an air filling machine, the official said.
"We sent him to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, and the doctor on duty pronounced him dead," the AGM said, adding that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue.
If the family members file any case, we will take proper action, said Abdullah Al-Mamun, officer-in-charge of the Shajahanpur Police Station.
