The High Court today wanted to know the government's steps about giving the job to Mim Akhter from Khulna, who was reportedly denied job in the police department despite qualifying the relevant exams since "she did not have a permanent address".

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman asked Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Bepul Bagmar to inform the steps to this court when it will reopen after its vacation.

Both the Appellate and HC Divisions of the Supreme Court is scheduled to go into a two-week annual vacation from tomorrow and set to reopen on January 3.

During a hearing on the matter, DAG Bagmar informed the HC bench that Mim's original home district is Pirojpur, but she attended the exam for the job in the quota of Khulna district, and therefore, there was a complication regarding her job in the police department.

Mim Akhter from Khulna's Sonadanga was reportedly denied a police job as she has no permanent address, though she bagged the first place in the merit list of the Trainee Recruit Constable examination under the general quota for women.

Following the news report published on The Daily Star online (Bangla) on December 12, the HC yesterday asked DAG Bepul Bagmar to inquire the matter from police administration and inform it.

SC lawyer Chanchal Kumar Biswas placed the news report before the HC bench for necessary directives on suomuto (voluntary) move.
