Man killed during clash in Narayanganj
A 32-year-old man was killed and four others injured in a clash between two groups in Narayanganj city last night.
Police could not confirm the identities of the deceased or injured.
The incident happened in Chasara Rail Station area, said Rakibuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Fatullah Model Police Station.
"A youth was hacked to death and four other people suffered injuries," the OC told our Narayanganj correspondent.
Witnesses said members of Jewel group and Sohag group went to Chasara Rail Station area last night to sell drugs and a clash ensued.
Both groups, equipped with homemade sharp weapons, attacked one another, leaving five people, including pedestrians, injured.
Later, locals took the injured to Narayanganj General Hospital where doctors declared the 32-year-old man dead, added the witnesses.
The four other injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as their condition deteriorated, added the witnesses.
Likhon Miah, sub-inspector of Fatullah Model Police Station, said the deceased could not be identified. Police are trying to identify him. The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue.
"The reason behind the murder is unknown. Police are looking into the matter," added the police official.
Police could not confirm whether the deceased was involved in the drug trade.
