College student in Barguna collapses in the middle of football match, dies

A college student collapsed on the field and died while playing football in Barguna yesterday afternoon.

Deceased Tanvir Talukder (17) was a student of Amtali Government College, reports our Patuakhali correspondent, quoting police. 

Quoting locals, Shah Alam Hawlader, officer-in-charge of Amtali Police Station, said local youths arranged a football match yesterday afternoon on the field of Chila Hashem Biswas Secondary School. Tanvir was one of the 22 players.

Just before the match ended, Tanvir kicked the ball and collapsed on the field, the OC said, adding that other players immediately took him to Amtali Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead.

Amtali Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Md Abdul Muneem Saad said Tanvir died before he was brought to the hospital. He might have died of cardiac arrest, Muneem said.

OC Shah Alam said Tanvir's body was handed over to his family without an autopsy at the request of the family. Later, his body was laid to rest at his family graveyard this morning.
