Freedom fighter Wahid Ullah passes away
Freedom fighter Wahid Ullah passed away at his residence in the capital's Siddheshwari early yesterday. He was 72. Wahid breathed his last around 12am due to complications arising from advanced stage Parkinson's disease.
Born in 1948 in Feni, he fought valiantly against the Pakistani occupational forces during the country's Liberation War in Sector-1 under Sector Commander Captain Rafiqul Islam.
He left behind his wife Sureaya Akhter, sons Karim Al Waheed and Mahmood Al Waheed, and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His elder son Karim is the digital editor of The Daily Star.
Wahid was given guard of honour by Bangladesh Police following his namaz-e-janaza at Ramna Thana Jaame Masjid after Zohr prayers.
Later, he was buried at Banani graveyard in Dhaka.
