“We will spend as much time together as possible today” – Iresh Zaker
Aly Zaker is a stalwart of the Bangladeshi theatre and television arena. Today marks the 76th birthday of the legendary thespian, who is unfortunately not doing too well physically.
He happens to share his birthday with his son, renowned actor Iresh Zaker. Iresh also serves as the President of Television and Digital Programme Producers Association Bangladesh.
On this special day, Iresh Zaker shares some of fond memories of celebrating birthdays with his beloved father.
"We always celebrated the day with our friends and family," says Iresh. "Due to the pandemic, there won't be elaborate plans. However, we will spend as much time together as possible. We plan to go for a drive."
Iresh considers their birthday in 2005 the most memorable celebration, as he returned from the US after a decade. "During those ten years, we couldn't celebrate together," says Iresh.
Aly Zaker has been unwell for a long time, due to complications linked to his age. Iresh informed that the great actor is stable now. "Baba is not well, but we are trying to keep him as healthy as we can," he says.
"He usually sleeps early, but today, he stayed up till we cut the cake as the clock struck 12," he says.
The family plans to go their ancestral village the next day. "When he was fitter, he used to visit Ratanpur, Bhrahmanbaria every month," asserts Iresh, who also talked about their Liverpool-themed birthday in 2015. "I am a huge Liverpool fan! Starting from the cake to decorations, everything paid homage to my favourite club. We even had the jerseys made!"
Iresh is currently shooting for the Akram Khan directorial "Nokshi Kanthar Jomin", and will be gearing up for several new on screen duties including two web projects for ZEE 5.
