Public transport to resume on 'limited scale' from May 31
Public transport -- road, rail, and waterway -- will resume but on a limited scale from May 31 with strict adherence to some conditions, according to a gazette issued by the Cabinet division today.
The movement of public transport on a limited scale will be effective till June 15 according to the gazette notification.
During the period, inter-district movement will also be strictly monitored and controlled. Check posts will be set up at entry and exit points of different districts. Law enforcers will be allowed to take stern action if anyone violates the restriction.
According to the gazette, the restriction (effective till June 15) will also include weekends --June 5-6 and June 12-13.
People's movement in the city will also remain restricted from 8:00pm to 6:00am. However, all educational institutions will continue to remain closed during the period but online classes will continue.
Government and private offices will open and run activities post May 30 but will have to maintain strict health guidelines. Elderly government employees and pregnant women were, however, asked to refrain from attending office.
