Road crashes kill 5 in Jashore, Pabna, Manikganj
Five people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Jashore, Pabna and Manikganj today.
Jashore
Two people were killed and four injured as a truck hit a tree beside the Jashore -Bagharpara road after ramming a man in Bagharpara upazila this afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Ful Banu Begum, 65, wife of late Mujibar Sikdar of Gaidghat Ghoppara of Bagharpara in Jashore and truck driver Al-Amin, 27, son of Abdul Latif of Horishpur Deadanga in Shalikha of Magura district.
Quoting witnesses, police said a brick-laden truck hit a differently abled woman, Ful Banu, on the road at Gaidghat Cold Storage around 4:00pm, leaving her dead on the spot.
The truck's driver, Al-Amin, was also killed and four workers injured as the vehicle hit a roadside tree after the driver lost control of the vehicle, said Sub-inspector Jumman Khan, in-charge of Khajura police outpost.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Jashore General Hospital.
Later, the bodies were handed over to the victim's family without autopsy, said SI Jumman.
Pabna
At least two people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a covered van on the Dhaka-Pabna highway in Pabna Sadar upazila this morning.
The deceased are Abdul Hamid, 40, and Babu Hossain, 50, both owners of small business of Modhupur village of the upazila, reports our Pabna correspondent.
Assistant director of Pabna fire station Dulal Miah said a Hazirhat-bound minitruck carrying owners of small businesses from Ataikula Bazar collided with a covered van coming from the opposite direction.
Hamid and Babu died on the spot and three others were injured, Dulal Miah said.
Manikganj
A four-year-old girl was killed as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw ran over her on Betila-Balirtek road in Manikganj's Sadar upazila this noon.
She was identified as Ema Akter, 4, daughter of Enamul Morol of Katabania village of Paikgacha upazila of Khulna district.
Abdur Rahim, sub-inspector of Manikganj Sadar Police Station said Ema died on the spot when the CNG run three-wheeler ran over her at Gokulnagar village around 12:30pm while she was crossing the road.
Ema's family has been living at the Gokulnagar as her father is a worker at the village's Haque Brick field, the police official said.
