Arms Case: Charges against Khalid Bhuiyan accepted
A Dhaka court yesterday took cognizance of charges against expelled Jubo League leader Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan in connection with an arms case.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka accepted the charges against Khalid, now in jail, in his presence.
He also fixed February 12 for hearing on charge framing against Khalid.
On November 19 last year, Rab Assistant Superintendent of Police Belayet Hossain, also the case’s investigation officer, submitted the charge sheet before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.
Rab arrested Khalid, organising secretary of Jubo League’s Dhaka south unit and also the president of Youngmen’s Football Club, from his Gulshan residence on September 18, 2019 in the wake of the crackdown at a “casino” in the football club. Rab also seized arms, bullets and yaba pills from his residence.
Jubo League on September 20 last year expelled Khalid. Later, four cases were filed against him -- three with Gulshan Police Station and one with Motijheel Police Station.
