Speedy Trial (amendment) bill placed in JS

The Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was placed in parliament today for extending its validity until 2024.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal placed the Bill which was sent to the parliamentary standing committee on the respective ministry for further examination.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.

The duration of the Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) Act, 2002 expired in April 2019. So, its validity has been extended by more five years.

No change has been brought in the content of the proposed law.
