Batting woes cost Tigresses
Batting remains to be a major concern for the Bangladesh women's cricket team as the hosts suffered yet another heavy defeat in the final T20I against their Pakistan counterparts at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar yesterday.
After the first match was abandoned due to rain, Pakistan clinched the four-match series 3-0 as they posted a seven-wicket win in the last fixture, reaching the 78-run target in 14.5 overs. The only ODI of the series will take place at the same venue tomorrow.
The whitewash gave the Tigresses, who made headlines in June after winning the Asia Cup, a much needed wake-up call ahead of the Women's World T20, which gets underway in the West Indies on November 9.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun elected to bat but once again, the top order could only limp to 32 for five by the halfway mark. Nine batters recorded single-digit scores while Rumana Ahmed top scored with 24 off 31 balls. Fahmida Khatun was the only other batter to reach double digits with 14 runs as Bangladesh completed their 20-over quota on 77 all out.
Pakistan's Natalia Pervaiz and Diana Baig picked five wickets between them.
Captain Javeria Khan hit a 29-ball 36, including five boundaries, as Pakistan romped home with seven wickets in hand.
