A summery twist for the boho chic
The Boho-chic is all about taking inspiration from the classical, mixing it with current trends, and adding a reflection of one's own personality to it; the perfect crossover of tradition and trends, a little out of the box, but pure high-fashion!
A NEW WARDROBE
Don't be daunted when you hear about a new wardrobe. Boho chic allows for any and all things to be added and altered. If you have never seen the lungi as anything else than a bottom wear, think again. You can make tops and other wearables from it, from kameez to shirts, unleash the free spirit of all that is boho.
COLOURS AND ATTIRE
In the early stages, red and white were the prominent shades of a Baishakhi look. Orange, yellow and perhaps a hint of blue or green came along. But lately, Pahela Baishakh is now celebrated with purple, or maybe something bolder like maroon. Even stripes are right beside typical floral designs and geometric patterns!
Today shalwar kameez and kurtis are next to saris. Cotton kurtis in vibrant hues add a youthful vibe when paired with a dhoti-style pajama, or Palazzos. Shalwar kameez with fine threadwork and embroidery resembling nakshi katha gives stunning results.
One of the most coveted pieces is the 'statement blouse.' Wearing a seemingly plain sari paired with an embroidered coloured blouse can be the middle statement between down-to-earth and chic!
Various patterns and styles like cold shoulders, neck cut-outs, or bell sleeves, are the hottest style at the moment.
JEWELLERY
Accessorising is interesting as it has room for giving it your very own touch. Even the most old-school get-up can be turned upside down by simply bringing some innovation in the embellishments. To keep the traditional vibe going on, one can wear handcrafted terra cotta, copper, or silver pieces. Exceptional designs and bright hues are highly recommended. Along with necklaces, tiklis, earrings, and noth (only if you can pull it off) can be your 'trendsetting option.'
As far as accessorising is concerned, if the attire is simple, it can easily be paired with bold statement pieces; if the outfit is heavily embroidered and vibrant, keep them it low.
HAIR-DO
'Khopa' was the most common 'Baishakhi' hairstyle even a few years ago. Everything we do today has to have an out-of-the box concept, so play with style to amp-up the Boho-chic appeal. Ditch khopa for braids or other hairdos.
Dutch braids are super chic and add playfulness to the outfit. Experiment with your hair, try out different styles and see what complements your overall look the best!
