The students of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University have blocked Nilkhet intersection demanding result of honours final year examinations.

The agitating students of academic session 2011-12 are continuing demonstration at Nilkhet area in Dhaka for eight hours till 5:15pm despite assurance from the university authorities of publishing the exam results in November.

They threatened that they will not end their agitation until a specific date for publishing the results is announced, reports our DU correspondent this afternoon.

Vehicular movement through Nilkhet and New Market area remains halted causing a severe gridlock in the adjacent roads and immense sufferings for the city dwellers.

Earlier, DU acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman went to Nilkhet around 11:30am and assured the students of publishing their results in November.

With the assurance, they cancelled the schedule of submitting a memorandum stating the demands to the president, but vowed to continue their protest till the authorities announce a specific result publishing date.

The seven DU affiliated colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
