Banani rape: Cops raid Shafat’s house, don’t find him
Police today raided the residence of Ahmed Shafat, an accused in a case filed over raping two university girls in Banani, but did not find him in the house.
A team of Banani police went to house no. 62 at Gulshan 2 around 1:00pm. They searched the house, our correspondent reports from the spot.

The law enforcers also searched for Shafat’s passport but did not find it, Milton Dutta, a sub-inspector the police Station, told The Daily Star after the raid.

On Saturday, one of the victims filed the case accusing five people. Shafat and Nayem Ashraf allegedly raped the girls more than a month ago in a hotel while three others assisted them.
Shafat's driver Billal, an unnamed bodyguard, and another young man Sadman Shafiq were accused of assisting Shafat and Nayem.
