Superstar Superstitions
"You will have 6-7 children", said the astrologer to Bonna Mirza, the popular television actress. The palmistry session had not started out very smoothly as Bonna's reaction was priceless after she heard this. "He said that I will be hindered by boys. This is very generic information as every girl's life is somewhat hindered by boys! I won't even comment about the '6 children' prediction as it is pretty much self-explanatory." Zayed Khan, however, had a different opinion on it. "Whatever he said made sense," said Zayed, "90 percent of it coincided with my life. I do believe that God has given us the lines in our palms that can be read to interpret our fate. He also knows my regular astronomer, so whatever he said must be true." There seemed to be a clear divide among the artists regarding the astrologer. Regardless of that, they seemed to be having an immense amount of fun as the session went on.
"You will get married late", said the astrologer to model and actress Peya. When she told him that she was already married, he responded with "Whoever gets married within 30 years of age could face adverse tides after that age." Even after that, Peya told us that most of the things that the 'fortune teller' said were right. "He told me that I am a very determined person," smiled Peya, "and I will go far in life. He also told me what I should do to be more successful in life. I do believe in astrology, but at the same time I know that most of your luck depends on your hard work and resolve." It seemed like Peya was very amused by the result, but at the same time elated to hear what appeased her from the fortune-teller.
Roshan, the newest sensation in the film industry with "Rokto" was amused by the session. Although he admitted
that he does not completely believe in fortune telling, he told us that he was not entirely dismissive of the notion. "No one ever said anything negative about my future," said the actor, "and that is because I have immense belief in myself and my abilities. Whatever was negative, I simply chose not to believe that." Swagata had a similar viewpoint when it came to the palmistry session. "He said that I am a perfectionist, and the rest of his predictions were based on the assumption that I was", she nodded. "However," she added, "it did feel nice when he said that I want to be a legend, there is some truth to it."
Some might say that in this modern age of science and technology there is no place for superstition. However, 'superstition' or not, it can help mentally and emotionally as is the case with many. As with Peya and Zayed Khan, some of the predictions give them the scoop of positivity needed for them to be energized and motivated. Superstition can be interpreted in a positive way as did Roshan and Swagata. Bonna Mirza, Peya, Zayed Khan, Swagata and Roshan all had one common goal after the gossip eventually died down: To start the New Year with reinvigorated zest and be the best that they could possibly be!
