Six killed in road crashes
Six people were killed and two others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.
Our Tangail correspondent reports, three people were killed while another was injured when a truck rammed them on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway at Shibpur in Tangail Sadar upazila yesterday.
The dead were Mokhles Uddin, 45, Amir Hamza, 25, and Sohel Miah, 22, of Bororia village. The four were pushing a truck when another truck, after being hit by a bus, rammed them.
Police seized the trucks but the bus sped away.
Our Jamalpur correspondent reports, a motorcyclist was killed while his co-rider injured when a truck hit the vehicle near Shekherbhita level crossing in Jamalpur town.
The deceased, Md Rafiqul Islam, 48, son of Mozammel Haque of village Gopalpur, was head teacher at Gopalpur Government Primary School.
Injured Badrul Islam Tutul, assistant teacher of Charbanda Govt Primary School, was rushed to Jamalpur General Hospital.
Locals caught Nazrul Islam, 30, driver of the truck, and handed him over to police. A case was filed against him.
A correspondent in Savar adds, a security guard of a factory, Firoj Ahamed, 35 was killed as a bus hit him from behind on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Ashulia's Sreepur.
Meanwhile in same area, an unidentified motorcyclist was killed as an oncoming bus hit his vehicle.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
