Nine senior officials of the foreign ministry, who are serving at home and Bangladesh missions abroad, have been promoted to the position of grade-3.
The position is equivalent to director general/ambassador/minister/deputy high commissioner/consul general, according to an official notification of the ministry issued on July 16.
The BCS (foreign service) cadre officials who have got the promotion are: Nazrul Islam, minister (local) at UN Permanent Mission in Geneva, Noor-E Helal Saifur Rahman, director general (current charge) of Africa Wing, Nahida Sobhan, minister (local) at the UN Permanent Mission in Geneva, Mahbub Hasan Saleh, minister (local) at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, Md. Nazrul Islam, director general (current charge) of West and Central Asia Wing, Md. Daud Ali, minister (local) at Bangladesh High Commission in Pretoria, Md. Nazmul Islam, director general (current charge), Abida Islam, deputy high commissioner/minister (local) in Kolkata and Samina Naz, deputy high commissioner/minister (local) in Mumbai.
