UP chairman shot dead in Jessore
A union parishad (UP) chairman was shot dead by unknown assailants in Chougachha upazila in Jessore on Thursday.
Zillur Rahman Mintu, 48, was the chairman of Singhojhuli UP in the upazila, said Golam Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chougachha Police Station.
A resident of Singhojhuli village, Mintu was previously a president of Jessore district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League, said the OC.
The official added that three miscreants on a motorcycle fired two shots targeting Mintu's chest and abdomen, leaving him dead on the spot, reports our Jessore correspondent.
Mintu came under attack around 2:40pm on his way back home from a programme in the area, the OC said.
