Ex-UP member shot dead

A former Union Parishad (UP) member was shot dead in Pangsha upazila on Saturday night. The deceased, Akkas Mollah, 48, of Ramkol Bahadurpur village of Machpara union was son of Turup Ali Mollah of the union. Police said when Akkas was returning home from Hossaindanga bazar in a motorbike around 11:00pm a gang sprayed bullets on him, leaving him dead on the spot.

 

Teenage boy commits 'suicide'

A college student allegedly committed suicide by taking pesticides at Kismat Nayapara village in Sadar upazila on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Rakibul Islam, 17, a student of HSC first year at Dr Abdur Razzaque College. Police said, Rakibul took pesticides due to severe depression.

 

BSF detains 2 youths

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) arrested two Bangladeshi cattle traders on Hapania border in Sapahar upazila of Naogaon district on Saturday. The arrestees are Ziaur Rahman, 30, of Krishnasada village and Farukh Hossain, 25, of Beldanga village. A team of BSF men arrested the duo when they entered the border area to bring their cattle.
