President leaves for London to join Islamic forum

President Abdul Hamid left here for London yesterday night on a four-day official visit to attend the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) to be held on October 29–31 there.
This is his first official overseas visit since he assumed in office on April 24 this year. Earlier, he visited Singapore twice but those were for medical check up.
The president is accompanying a 33-member delegation, which includes three family members, right officials from his office, five officials from the foreign ministry, 12-member security team and five-member official media to attend the forum at ExCel London.
The president is expected to address the opening session of the forum at 10:20am on Tuesday.
He will attend luncheon to be hosted by Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Tun Abdul Razak in honour of the participating heads of state and government and attend the dinner to be hosted by the Prince of Wales on Tuesday.
The president will exchange pleasantries with the Bangladeshi community at Westminister Methodist Central Hall in UK at 4:00pm on Wednesday.
On the sideline of the forum, the president is expected to meet the heads of state and government.
The theme of the forum is “Changing World, New Relationships” to sum up the emergence of new economic linkages between nations across borders, religions and cultures in a fast changing world.
President Abdul Hamid who left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:05pm by Emirates airlines flight is expected to depart London on October 30 and return home on October 31.
