Ailing Zillur set to fly to Singapore
President Zillur Rahman flies to Singapore on an air ambulance for better treatment on Sunday night.
Officials said the flight is due to take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:30pm.
Earlier, two specialized doctors from Singapore went to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka and recommended to take the president to Singapore.
Zillur was hospitalised on Saturday night, his son Nazmul Hasan, MP, told The Daily Star on Sunday.
The doctors arrived in Shahjalal International Airport on a special flight at around 8:30pm Sunday from Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore under whom the president used to undergo regular checkups, president's press secretary told The Daily Star.
From the airport, the doctors went to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka where the 83-year-old president has been admitted due to respiratory complications.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the ailing president in the noon and spent around half-an-hour beside him.
She inquired about the health condition and treatment from the physicians and directed them to take appropriate care of the head of the state.
Zillur Rahman was suffering from fever from Saturday morning and he was taken to the CMH at the night when he felt some other ailments including breathing problems.
