Nuclear info centre opens in capital

A Nuclear Industry Information Centre was opened at Bangabandhu Novo Theatre in the capital yesterday to educate people on basic nuclear energy, its safety features and radiation leakage.
State Minister for Science and Technology Yeafesh Osman inaugurated the centre in presence of Sergei V Kirienko, director general of Russian state nuclear company Rosatom.
The centre has a hi-tech cinema hall with panorama 3D projection, computer graphics and animation, stereo sound, interactive consoles and personal monitor facilities.
An education film, “Journey to the World of Nuclear Energy”, was screened at the inaugural ceremony.
The film will be screened in Bangla, Russian and English languages. Other educational programmes on astronomy, natural science and regional geography will also be available for visitors.
In addition, the information centre will organise various programmes to provide basic knowledge on applications of Russian nuclear technologies in the field of agriculture and medicine, and scope of obtaining Russian nuclear education.
