A man beat his sister-in-law and her two sons to death in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj Thursday evening for properties.
Police arrested the murderer, Borhan, 45, from Nandail upazila of Mymensingh when he was going into hiding around 9:30pm, said Mir Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Hossainpur Police Station.
Deceased are Najma Akter, 32, wife of Faruq Mia of Sidla village, and her two children -- Shajahan, 8, and Limon, 4, reports our Kishoreganj correspondent.
After spending 20 years behind the bars for killing his elder brother Sohrab, Borhan was released from jail a month ago, Mosharraf said.
As he recently came to know that his father late Sadar Ali gave all of his properties to his younger brother, Borhan got furious and planned to kill them, the OC said quoting Borhan.
On Thursday evening, Borhan went to Faruq’s house and getting Najma alone beat her to death and covered the body with leaves, the police official said.
Some times later, when Najma's sons came home, Borhan also beat them to death, he added.
As villagers approached hearing Limon screaming for life, Borhan ran away.
During a primary investigation, Borhan confessed to his guilt, the OC said.
The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Modern Hospital morgue for autopsy.
